Hi Gang…
First….a “welcome home” to fibreglass companion Guy Dirkin who just came again from European countries last night time. Excellent to have you again on secure National ground. Guy…..today’s tale is for you (Guy’s a Byers SR100 proprietor..).
So…
What’s the best recognition you could get debuting a fibreglass activities car in the 1950’s?
No discussion here for me group. How ‘bout the top side protect of one of the most well-known vehicle newspapers of its day – and beyond? Bob Bond’s Street and Monitor Journal.
That’s what occurred time and again in the 1950’s and it occurred here again in Feb 1957 when Bob Rapport, proprietor and writer of Street and Monitor magazine, decided Jim Byers’ SR100 for the top side protect of his magazine.
This was not a unusual accomplishment for fibreglass activities car organizations of the day. John D’Louhy and I have gathered over 100 magazine protects – just from the 1950’s – where our preferred fibreglass activities vehicles showed up on the protect. This limits Corvettes and you can examine out a little part of these fibreglass “cover cars” in our new area devoted to this particular subject. Press on the appropriate website weblink below:
